Another pair of socks was finished last month.
These are knit with the ideal jeans-wearing yarn I’ve come across: It’s a hand-dyed superwash merino/nylon blend that has a slightly rustic spin and comes from A Piece of Vermont. Don’t the subtle variations of the soft blue color look just like stonewashed jeans?
The yarn needed a simple pattern that would allow the yarn to be the star, yet I wanted something more than a plain stockinette stitch. Wendy Johnson’s Red Brick Road pattern from Knit 1, Fall 2008 fit the bill perfectly.
The yarn-over mock cable provides just the right amount of interest and lends a touch of flair to the socks. I think this is the third pair of socks I’ve knit this year that have the yarn-over mock cable on them. It’s a great little stitch, yes?
